CILYC
Northern Cebu
Malapascua
Two signature shoals, two extraordinary shark encounters — thresher sharks at dawn, tiger sharks in open water — a half-day's sail from Cebu.

| ARRIVAL
A small island with an outsized reason to visit.
Malapascua is one of the only places on earth with reliable diving encounters with thresher sharks, and its waters hold a second reason to come: tiger sharks, sighted at a separate shoal not far offshore. The sail up from Cebu takes half a day, and a particular quiet settles over the deck as the island comes into view.
Less anticipation of a beach, more the specific hush of heading somewhere genuinely rare.
| Why We Sail Here
Timed around the water, not a dive boat's fixed schedule.
Most travelers reach Malapascua by ferry and land-based dive shop, choosing one shoal or the other depending on which operator they book. Arriving by private trimaran means the crossing itself becomes part of the experience, and it means routing between Monad Shoal and Kimud Shoal on your own schedule rather than someone else's.
2 Signature Shoals
| Monad Shoal for thresher sharks, Kimud Shoal for tiger sharks

Monad Shoal
The cleaning station where thresher sharks appear with unusual reliability at dawn.

Gato Island
A short sail further, known for sea snakes and swim-through caves.
Discoveries, not a checklist.
An island footprint you can walk in under an hour — and marine life that outsizes it entirely.
What You'll Find

Kimud Shoal
A separate offshore site known for tiger shark sightings — Malapascua's second signature dive.

A tiny island footprint
Walkable in under an hour, with disproportionate marine life offshore.
Three ways to reach this coastline.
